The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory’s (NRL) Code 5770 has prototyped, produced, and delivered the SIMDIS 3-D Analysis and Display toolset to the community. The SIMDIS toolset is designed for use on commercial Windows and Linux hardware and provides identical execution and look and feel across all supported platforms.

SIMDIS provides either a 2-D or a 3-D display of the normally seen data such as platform position and orientation, as well as the unseen data such as the interactions of sensor systems with targets, countermeasures, and the environment. To meet the demanding needs of today’s range operators, simulation users, analysts, and decision makers, SIMDIS provides multiple modes of operation for:

• Live Display
• Interactive Debrief and Playback
• Scripted Multimedia Modes

SIMDIS also provides capability for manipulation of post-processed data and integration with charts, graphs, pictures, audio, and video for use in the development and delivery of high impact three dimensional presentations.

At the NRL and other sites, SIMDIS has been used for numerous simulations, tests and training applications.  The high-fidelity analysis and visualization capability provided by the SIMDIS toolset is an invaluable asset for handling disparate data in a common frame of reference.

SIMDIS has been independently accredited and certified by Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR) for use in Developmental, Operational and Initial Operational Test and Evaluation Events (DT, OT and IOT&E).  SIMDIS has a Department of Defense (DOD) Distribution Statement A, meaning it is approved for public release; distribution is unlimited.  SIMDIS currently has the following active accreditation approvals:

• Risk Management Framework (RMF) based Authorization to Operate (ATO)
• Department of the Navy Applications and Database Management System (DADMS ID)
• US Navy Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES)
• Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE)
• Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Test Support Systems (TSS)

In addition to the DOD, SIMDIS has also gained acceptance in other U.S. and foreign organizations.
